November 2006 Minutes

Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Hoffman, County of Clinton, and State of Illinois, held on Wednesday, November 8 2006, at 7:00 P.M.

Meeting called to order by President Guile. The following trustees answered roll call:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Village Clerk and approved as read.

Visitors recognized: Dave Bick


The attached bills totaling $8,312.57 and $933.60 was presented for approval and payment. A motion was made by Travis and seconded by Nowak to pay the bills presented. Motion carried with no opposition.

Committee Reports:

Finance/Economic Development – Nothing to report.

Health – Nothing to report.

Ordinance/Zoning – Unlicensed vehicle on Showalter’s property on Broadway (hut)

Park/Beautification –the remaining benches need to be installed – board members discussed installing these benches on November 11th at 1:00 p.m.

Streets – the day after Thanksgiving, the Christmas lights will be going up. It was also reported that street lights are needed in the alley behind the fire station.


Utilities – nothing to report.

Amendments to the Agenda – None

President’s Updates & Comments – President Guile informed board members that Sandy Hohman will have a Christmas party at her home after the next meeting. He also stated that a Stay-At-Home Mother’s group has asked to use the board room for meetings once a month. The board approved waiving the rental fees for this group.

Clerk’s Updates and Comments – Hugo reported that the discrepancy on last months agenda/check Summary Register was payroll taxes. Also, Toni Guile would like to know when would be a good time to decorate the hall for Christmas. The first Christmas rental is December 3rd. Per Toni, the 27th is good or anytime that week until Thursday. It was decided to decorate on Wednesday, November 29th at 6:00 p.m.


Attorney’s Updates & Comments – nothing to report

Unfinished business:

Lift Station Bypass – Dave Bick provided aerial photos and showed options for overflow project. He explained how each option would work. A motion was made by Travis and seconded by Nowak to approve an overflow pipe permit. This was signed by President Guile.

Culvert at FS Elevator – President Guile reported that the Village is seeking funds from the DECA grant for this project.

Web Page – nothing to report.

Bike Path Maintenance – nothing to report

Maintenance of Basketball Courts – Travis will call Tucker Electric regarding the lights.

Records Retention – tabled

New Business

Packets for Election of Village Officers – Copies were made and distributed to Guile, Nowak, and Hugo. Packets will be taken to Abernathy and Hohman.

Motion to adjourn by Travis, second by Nowak. Motion carried.
